LNL: What ingredients go into the recipe of your writing style?

A.K.: Inaccurately remembered conversations, pathos, bad word, anxious ruminating, self-deprecation (as needed), one or two sentences of quiet reflection, another bad word, observed real-life absurdity, something gross, circular theorizing, heavily edited free associations, momentary conclusion which probably won’t hold up, Roget’s thesaurus—adds sparkle to any dish!

LNL: Name one book you wish you could read again for the first time.

A.K.: Fingersmith by Sarah Waters.

LNL: Answer a question you wish people would ask you about writing.

A.K.: How about this one—I’m interested in the process of artists who write and draw their own comics. Is drawing a form of writing for you or do you make a real distinction between the two forms?
