Lauren Cerand, Literary Publicist
Welcome to Late Night Conversation. This week Doug’s guest is literary publicist extraordinaire Lauren Cerand. Doug and Lauren discuss PR, branding, and “buzz”—what it is, steps to create it, and how to harness it. Lauren also dispenses free advice/tough love to all the Medieval Irish lit majors who currently helm Big Publishing.
“The challenge with (publicizing) fiction is going to be, to the reader, ‘Why should I read this in my lifetime and why should I read it now?’ That’s a pretty tough proposition.”
