How to Submit – Multiple Entries

For multiple submissions send two copies of each entry in hardcover or bound paperback book form and a cover letter to: Late Night Library, 7503 SE Woodstock Boulevard, Portland, Oregon 97206. Cover letters must include your name and title (publisher, author, publicist, agent, etc.), your email address and phone number, and the category of your submission (fiction or poetry).  A notice of receipt will be emailed to you. An S.A.S.E. will be returned with Late Night Library bookmarks.

Book submissions must be postmarked by April 30, 2016. Electronic submissions will not be considered.

An application fee of $25 is required for each submission. If paying by check (U.S. submissions only) include a single check with the submitted books, payable to Late Night Library. Entry fees are non-refundable. International submissions must be paid online.

Paying Online:

Online payments must be received by April 30, 2016. Incomplete applications will not be forwarded to the judges. Online entry fees are nonrefundable.

Please calculate your online payment by adding a 4% processing fee to your total order. For example:

2 books = $50 + $2 processing fee. Total = $52.00

10 books = $250 + $10 processing fee. Total = $260

Your total payment must be calculated accurately in order to complete your submission.

After posting an online payment via Paypal, please email with the following information:

  1. Your name and title (publisher, author, publicist, agent, etc.).
  2. The titles of the books and their categories (fiction, poetry, or young adult fiction).

Competition Rules and Guidelines

Incomplete applications will not be forwarded to the judges.

Staff and board directors of Late Night Library are not eligible to participate in the competition.

Prizes. Winning authors receive a cash award of $1,000, a featured appearance on Late Night Conversation, and an invitation to Portland, Oregon for a featured appearance in All Fines Forgiven. Literary judges will discuss winning books on Late Night Debut.

Late Night Library’s staff will select three finalists in each category. Literary judges will select the winners. Literary judges are published authors in the selected category. The names of judges will be released with the announcement of winners.


Finalists will be announced in July 2016, and winners will be announced in August. Debut-litzer Prize podcasts will be released in September 2016.
